To begin...This is assuming that most of you have had or are currently in some form of schooling...Oh no I suppose I should account for the other hundred thousand who haven't...WELL, OKAY! Fashion is hard! It is no joke!! Life is difficult enough, so if you want to add the painful "joy" of a fashion career to the mix, then I suggest finding a boyfriend/ girlfriend who happens to be a psychiatrist as well...because you will have a lot to talk about! It is not twirling around a mannequin with fabric and throwing together a masterpiece that will make you world famous...OKAY, OKAY! I know that there are some privileged designers who's mommies and daddy's bank accounts are as vast and boundless as Pamela Anderson’s cleavage. Those lucky few can get almost any job due to the social circles that Ma and Pa run in...I won't name any names but if you live in New York then I would suggest checking out the Lobby at Parsons Fashion School. Not saying they are bad people or bad designers... Just that if you can afford to go to that school then you can most likely afford to buy lunch for Ralph Lauren and his entire company. On the contrary if you can't afford to go to that school then save your money and transfer to FIT...the educations are basically the same. However if you can afford it then I will say that Parsons is a good way to make connections. But, what is worth more being able to eat or being pals with Isaac Mizrahi. Okay, I admit that would be pretty damn cool! But what you lack in connections now you can make up for with hard work now... Which BELIEVE ME will eventually lead to connections later.
